Cold and flu season is here again. Many people are looking for ways to stay well. These tips will help boost immune system.

Sleeping is your body’s time to heal itself. If you don’t get a proper number of hours of sleep each night it can hinder this process. It is recommended that each person get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Getting enough sleep also gives your body more energy to fight illness. On average, most Americans only sleep about 6 hours per night, those extra two hours can make a big difference in weather or not you stay healthy.

Food gives your body energy as well. The nutrition you get from that food also helps to fight disease. One of the biggest problems is that fast food and junk food don’t provide proper nutrition. Also for all of you who like to diet you may not be getting enough nutrition to fight off illness. You should eat three meals a day and at least 2 of those should be good meals that won’t leave you feeling hungry and that have enough nutrition to give your immune system enough power to keep you body well.

While you do get vitamins from eating, you may need to take supplements. This is especially important if you don’t always eat right. You can get extra vitamins from a number of sources. First you can buy a good multi vitamin. Next on the list are drinks like V8 juice. One of the most important vitamins, especially during the cold and flu season, is vitamin C. You can buy these in any retail store or pharmacy. You can also get extra vitamin C from most fruit juices and citrus fruit. I personally try to get as much vitamin C as I can through juices and then take tablets at least once a day.

Doctors always recommend flu and pneumonia shots; these are great for most people but personally I have never taken them. If your immune system is already a bit low then you run a risk of getting sick just from the shot. I have known several people that this has happened to. While I would never suggest anyone skipping this I do recommend caution.

I also recommend caution with all of the new products out that promise to help boost your immune system and keep you from getting sick. I know people who swear by these but it’s hard to say weather or not they would have gotten sick even without them. Also remember to check with your doctor especially if you have other medicines you are taking or are under a doctors care for any reason.

Washing or sanitizing your hands is always a good idea. Please remember it is a must after using the bathroom and before eating. They have bottles of hand sanitizer that will fit in a pocket or purse for those times when you can’t get to a place to wash right away. These are especially good for when you are out shopping or at work.

Stopping the spread of cold and flu germs begins with each and every person. If you are sick, try to stay home. If you are well then try to stay well.

Using herbal detox remedies like detox support can also help to boost your immunity.
