Because your home is your haven, it is important to keep everything inside it protected. The best way to do so these days is with an alarm system. Although many people think they can do this by themselves, it always is better to have a professional alarm installation. There are many reasons for this. The main reason is because you need to make sure it is done properly. If you mess up even the tiniest detail, your entire system could malfunction.

Even if you’re fairly decent with installing things, it is still better to hire a professional to do your alarm installation. It will remove a lot of the stress and anxiety that goes with not knowing whether you did everything properly. They also will know how to install it quickly and with as little disruptions as possible to your home.

Another important reason why people should allow the professionals to do their alarm installation is that in the event that it is not installed properly. If in the unfortunate event that your home is broken into due to your alarm system being improperly installed, it would be the company’s fault.

You actually can view professional alarm installation as another level of security for your home. Since it is their job and their system, they know how it needs to be installed. They will be able to notice if something was missed and be able to go back over it before they leave your home. Another added benefit is that you will receive a detailed explanation of how everything works. They will go over how to activate it and deactivate it, as well as how to communicate to the monitor.

People will always try and install their own alarm system, it happens all the time, but with so many benefits of hiring a professional alarm installer, why would you? Because you want to save a bit money is not a good excuse to risk the safety of your family and your home. You bought the alarm system for a reason right? So getting it installed properly and professionally is just logical.

Every time you connect to the email, you’re taking a risk. Viruses, trojans, malware, spyware, worms, spam they’re all nasty stuff designed specifically to pillage personal information or cause general mayhem on your computer as it innocently communicates with others.

As the internet is very insecure by nature -ie anyone can load anything on it – you need to take cautionary steps to protect yourself. Even harmlessly browsing through sites may get your computer affected with a virus or spyware without you even knowing it. Email security solution is your protection against such intrusions and works by limiting your computer’s exposure to online threats.

Measures to take Basic measures involve protection by carefully selected passwords, file permissions and data backups. Unfortunately it doesn’t end there. In the age of enterprising cyber criminals, installing anti-virus software, a personal firewall, anti-adware and anti-spyware as well as browsing software is essential. Such software can be bundled into a suite for you to buy to take the stress out of finding them separately. Some security tasks are automatically performed by your operating system; others must be managed and monitored by the user to be effective.

The first line of defense is a firewall. It works by allowing your computer to only connect to trusted sources – kind of like a hardware or software device that acts like a fence around your computer. Both hardware and software firewalls use a number of different techniques to keep your PC and network safe with all data (incoming and outgoing) inspected to see if it is coming from and going to trusted ports and possibly even trusted IP addresses. You can usually tailor your firewall to suit your needs by allowing exceptions and adding programs and websites.

Virus and spyware protection software, meanwhile, help you keep your files safe. Hackers insert viruses and spyware in website HTML, text files and software programs. Once downloaded and activated, these programs can destroy files, copy passwords and banking details and damage software programs. A general anti-virus program scans for such viruses and spyware either deletes or quarantines them for you.

What is your responsibility? Users must also pay particular attention to common email security threats. Do not open email file attachments from unknown sources because this tends to be a major source of viruses. Clicking on active links in emails can redirect your browser to sites full of spyware, adware or worse. Phishing – or fake emails from trusted sources that ask for personal and financial information – can lead to identity theft. In general, your bank or credit card will never email a request for you to update your details. Common sense prevails here.

Warning Also be warned that new internet threats appear daily. Keeping your security software updated is essential to your security plan. Review the default internet security settings and update settings for your operating system, browser, email program and all installed security software often. Schedule a daily or weekly time for your virus and spyware software to run and report your security status. If you are frequently finding that your computer has been invaded by spyware or viruses, upgrade your software or select stronger protection options.

Email encryption is a term that refers to the encryption as well as the authentication of email or electronic mail messages. Most commonly, email encryption is designed to rely on what is known as public key cryptography. There are a number of popular protocols that are used for the purpose of email encrypted service, the most notable of which are mail session encryption, identity based encryption, Open PGP encryption, TLS encryption and S/MIME encryption.

- Mail Session Encryption – This involves using a STARTTLS SMTP extension, which is a TLS layer that is on top of an SMTP connection. It is capable of protecting mail traffic from being sniffed while it is being transmitted, but this does not actually involve encrypting the actual email because the content inside the email messages is capable of being revealed to, and thusly tampered with, by the email relays that are involved. The encryption, then, actually occurs between the individual SMTP relays rather than between the individual sender and recipient. When both of the relays offer support for STARTTLS, then it is capable of being used regardless of whether or not another protocol is being used to encrypt the contents of the email.

- Identity Based Encryption is a form of public key cryptography that is designed and implemented to use unique information regarding the identity of the user such as their email address as the public key. The public key may also be a text value such as the domain name or name or its associated IP address for example.

- Open PGP – PGP stands for Pretty Good Privacy, and Open PGP is a computer program designed to provide cryptographic privacy as well as authentication. It is often utilized for the purpose of signing, decrypting or encrypting emails in order to increase the level of security for email communication.

- TLS – TLS stands for Transport Layer Security, and it is the successor to Secure Sockets Layer or SSL. These are cryptographic protocols designed to provide data integrity and security for network communications such as through the internet. There are a number of different versions of these protocols that see wide spread use including web browsing, internet faxing, electronic mail, VoIP and instant messaging.

- S/MIME – S/MIME is an acronym that stands for Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, and this is a standard that is used for signing email and public key encryption of email that is encapsulated in MIME.

A Private Email Network, PEN is a secure pathway that employs highly effective encrypted email solution, without requiring complex programs, certificates or servers. Secure messages use existing e-mail address and can be created and read in any systems. Email2 is a business communication platform that enables security for your organization and creates a Private Email Network

Each of these email encryption protocols, mail session encryption, identity based encryption, Open PGP encryption, TLS encryption and S/MIME encryption are used for different purposes and some apply not only to email encryption but also to other types of encryption including internet browsing and instant messaging encryption depending on the method and mode of communication.

When companies are trying to avoid the potential for infiltration and corruption in their e-mail system, one of the options that is available for them to consider is to create a business private e-mail network or PEN. Not only is this a completely attainable goal for any company that wants to make their email network more secure, but it is becoming increasingly necessary as businesses need to be capable of protecting their private and personal information in more secure ways.

Private Email Messages With enough persistence, someone that is interested in breaking into your company’s private email messages certainly can do so. This is especially possible when it comes to open WiFi locations. Not only could they potentially read sensitive information in the emails traveling between members of your company, but there is also potential there for them to manipulate and change the information in those documents to harm your business. Proprietary information can be stolen and email messages can be forwarded on, altered or not, without anyone being wise to the fact that the message was ever intercepted. This can spell disaster for an unprepared company.

For all types of companies then, regardless of the types of information that are regularly sent via email message with encrypted email service, it has become necessary for you to choose an email client that is secure and that will protect the information stored in email messages as it is being sent. The best idea is going to be to use an open architecture type of system that is going to be supported well into your company’s future rather than choosing a more proprietary system that will only last for a few years.

What a Private Email Network (PEN) A Private Email Network or PEN attempts to achieve is to pass email messages around only within the company on a local or intranet level, meaning that the email messages are never vulnerable to hackers because they are not being exposed to the internet at large. When employees at your company communicate through the Private Email Network, they are communicating only within your company’s own office building, which means that private correspondence is kept safe and secure, and you can rest assured that your proprietary information and personal communications are being kept completely private.

For example, the email2 platform enables your organization to create a Private Email Network, a trusted channel for confidential conversations with colleagues, stakeholders and clients.

There are a number of different turnkey systems that are available for companies large and small that are looking to create a local, private email network that can be relied on for correspondence within the company without a threat of outside interests getting in. The best systems typically involve the use of a simple program that makes sending email within the private email network easy and intuitive, behaving as a normal email system would, though the email messages never leave the closed loop system and therefore they are never vulnerable to attacks. This is the best way to protect your company’s private correspondence from prying, outside eyes.

In today’s business environment, which is as competitive as ever, every little advantage that you can create against competitors is going to benefit you, and having an e-mail address is one such advantage. Even something as small and as simple as an e-mail address can have a large impact on your business when it comes to determining whether or not you are going to land a deal, or create a sale before a competitor can.

When the internet was first taking off a few years ago, nearly everyone was signing up to utilize free web based email services such as free access mail. These were very convenient services at the time, and they gave us a means of communicating with other people all over the globe. Free browser based email services are still quite popular today, as there are millions of people subscribed any Free access mail. These free web-based e-mail services were primarily created for individuals that wanted email accounts, but businesses have also utilized these email services as well. In the past, having an free access account, an -at-free access mail.com account or an -at-yahoo-dot-com account was perfectly acceptable, even if the account was intended for business purposes, but this has changed significantly in recent years.

Now that we have moved so far forward in the realm of digital business, something looks fishy if you are still using one of these free email service providers as your primary business e-mail address. If you are using a free access mail account for your primary business contact, you may actually be giving people the wrong idea about your business by telling them that you are not serious about what you do. Because it has become so important for business people to have websites, you should already have an email to correspond with your domain name, meaning that there is absolutely no need for using a free web based service for your email needs.

Having an e-mail address is vitally important for communicating with other business people, clients, customers and people interested in what you do for a living. But you need to understand the difference that exists between being johnsmith-at-free access mail.com and being johnsmith-at-yourcompanyname-dot-com. If you are serious about having people take you and your business seriously, then you have to have a yourcompanyname-dot-com website, and an accompanying e-mail address.

If for example, if business has an email2 platform or you run a communications company, then telling people that your e-mail address is JohnSmith-at-A1Communications.com is definitely going to be better for your reputation and image than telling people that your email address is A1Communications-dot-free access mail-dot-com. Which company would you sooner rely on? For this reason, it has become vitally important for you to have a website and an accompanying email address that helps to build your reputation in the business world rather than to tear it down.

So how important is an email address these days? Vitally so, if you want your personal life, social relationships and business to go anywhere in this highly competitive world and make sure it’s an email security solution.

A good Alarm System protects your assets from fire and thievery. There are various types of Alarm Systems available and generally can be tailored to suit your needs, whether it is a fire alarm or burglar system, there are stand-alone systems and monitoring systems. The one thing to remember is to get the best alarm within your budget. Never take the cheapest option when it comes to protecting your assets.

Stand alone alarm systems are generally okay, but you have to bear in mind that a lot of the time people just ignore a sounding alarm mainly because they think that it is just a false alarm. Those are the risks you take when dealing with a stand-alone system. In the case of a break in, a lot of criminals know how to get easily get around such alarms no matter how sophisticated the system may be. Ultimately, they can get in and out before the authorities are notified.

With stand-alone fire alarm systems, even the fire department can be delayed depending on how long it takes for someone to call them. This can be a situation where a delay can result in total destruction of your home or business. Even if the alarm goes off, it is hard to say when someone will notify the fire department.

The very best alarm systems are ones that are attached to a monitoring company. Alarms with monitoring are the best way to avoid disaster. When an alarm is tripped, the monitoring company is aware of it immediately and can get the proper authorities rolling to your address immediately saving precious time in response. With burglar alarms you have the assurance that there is a better chance the thieves will get caught and with fire alarms it means the fire damage can be contained better.

No matter which alarm systems you go for you must make every effort to protect your hard earned assets from needlessly disappearing. With the technology available today, there is no reason not to do your best to protect yourself and your valuables. Alarm systems are relatively inexpensive when compared to the loss of a house or business. Protect yourself from thieves and fire by installing the proper alarm system for your home today.

To properly protect your home or business you need to have a solid alarm monitoring system in place. An ordinary alarm is simply not enough. But all too often people take an alarm going off as a false alarm, which it often is. But, when the real thing takes place, you would want a response and the best way that you can guarantee a response is with a security company monitoring your alarm status.

Whether you have an alarm monitoring system for thievery, fire or both, having it in conjunction with a 24-hour monitoring system is the smart way to protect your property.

An alarm monitoring system is the smart way to look after your assets at your property. Especially nowadays where a lot of clever thieves know how to render an alarm system useless. But, when you have a specialist company monitoring your alarm systems, tampering with it will set off a silent alarm and the monitoring company will dispatch someone to investigate. Now compare this with an ordinary alarm, thieves can penetrate your home or business and steal everything, what’s worse is that you could be at home when this happens.

Fire alarm monitoring greatly increases the chances of the fire department getting to your home in time. The moment the alarm sounds, the monitoring company will immediately dispatch the fire department and any other appropriate authorities to your home and business. Compare this to a stand-alone fire alarm which might not even be noticed right away and the amount of time between the alarm going off and the authorities being called in could be wider than necessary.

An alarm monitoring system is can also save the lives of senior citizens who are living alone. If their personal alarm goes off, the monitoring company can quickly react and send out an ambulance and contact the family members or friends. This kind of alarm monitoring system saves lives every day and gives peace of mind to those older loved ones. Those precious minutes can be saved when a monitoring company is carefully watching over them. No matter what your situation is, you can find having an alarm monitoring system to suit your individual needs.

by Marion Rose Jones

Building a swimming pool in your house or garden can be a fantastic way to have fun for yourself and indeed your entire family. It is also a great way to keep fit. However, in spite of that, it can also be very dangerous if you have children about. If you have the patience, you should wait until your children are at least five years old or more before you put a swimming pool on your property. On the other hand, if you already have a swimming pool, there are ways that you can safe-guard your kids.

One thing you should always remember is to never, ever, allow your children to be alone near your pool. Children tend to be drawn to water and all it takes is a second for them to fall into the swimming pool. If you and your children are at your pool side and you have to leave the area for a second, you should always take your children with you.

To be completely safe, you must always make sure that you have plenty of safety equipment around your pool at all times. Safety items are essential to have around, as they could save the life of a child or anyone else who can’t swim.

You should invest in a shepherd’s crook too, because you can use it to drag someone out of the pool. Having a telephone at your pool is also a good investment, as you can easily call for help in the event of an emergency.

If you don’t already have a fence around your pool you should think about getting one right away. A fence is a useful way to keep children away from your swimming pool. If you have a protective fence up, you don’t have to worry about small children falling into it, while you are away from the pool. When you put your fence up, you should always ensure that it’s at least six feet high with a locking gate. In this way, no one can get into the pool without a key, which you should keep with you at all times.

You could learn CPR too. Even though you hopefully will not ever have to use it. It is always good to know CPR in the event of someone falling in your pool that is unable to swim. Whenever you have children you know can’t swim at your pool, you should always stay near them, so you can react instantly if they fall in. A minute can be all it takes to save someone’s life.

Always bear in mind that swimming is fun, although you have to always think in terms of safety first. Once you have finished using your pool for the day, make sure that you secure the area well – and lock the gate up tight so no one can get in.

Nothing feels as bad as feeling violated when someone breaks into your home and that should be all the reason why everyone needs to have a home alarm. It’s bad enough just thinking about a complete stranger ransacking through your home when you are not there to steal your stuff, but just think about it, having someone inside your home when you home, asleep. It’s a horrible thought that most people just don’t want to think about but it’s an unfortunate fact of life in today’s society.

A home alarm is your first defence against home invaders for many reasons. Thieves are generally cowards and once they see a house with an alarm they tend not bother and move on to another house. They don’t want to take the risk of being caught and they also want to avoid any extra trouble.

Yet if they choose to ignore your window stickers which state that your home is protected with an alarm system, and they trip it, they will literally run for their lives. Burglars are cowards and don’t want to get caught, they just want quick and easy money and you should make life difficult for them.

Home alarms will deter home invasion but there are a couple of other things you should do in conjunction with your alarm system. For instance lighting plays a huge part in home protection. A well-lit yard will keep a potential robber from coming into your home. A combination of lights that stay on all the time and lights that are motion sensitive is the best partner to a good alarm system. Light is a thief’s worst enemy and they will avoid properties that are properly lit. Seek out the darkest areas of your home and yard and install motion sensitive lighting.

Other simple steps to note with home alarms include making sure that you have good bolt lock on all doors around your property. Try to develop a routine when you set your alarm. Every night when you set your alarm, survey your house quickly and make sure every window is shut and double check all door locks. This kind of care goes a long way in looking after your home and contents. Doing all this will greatly reduce your risk of becoming a potential victim of a home invasion.
